Notice Regarding Boundary Changes for Chief Justice Milvain and Colonel J. Fred Scott Schools

To balance enrolment at the schools in the Whitehorn community, the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) will be changing the designation boundaries for Chief Justice Milvain School and Colonel J. Fred Scott School.

Effective for the 2024-25 school year and beyond, there will be new regular program designation boundaries for the Whitehorn community. New students registering for school from the Whitehorn community will be designated to the following schools based on where they live (see attached maps for attendance areas):

  • New kindergarten to Grade 6 students residing South of Whitehorn Dr. NE will be designated to Chief Justice Milvain School (Map 1).
  • New kindergarten to Grade 6 students residing North of Whitehorn Dr. NE will be designated to Colonel J. Fred Scott School (Map 2).

Will these changes affect students currently at Chief Justice Milvain and Colonel J. Fred Scott Schools?

All students currently attending Chief Justice Milvain School or Colonel J. Fred Scott School will be able to remain at their current school until they graduate from the school or move from the community.

Students who will have a younger sibling starting in their newly designated school in the 2024-25 school year have the option to transfer to that school for the 2024-25 school year and beyond.

How do I register for school next year?

Kindergarten registrations for the 2024-25 school year begin in January 2024. For more information on how to register, please visit our website.

How will students get to school?

Students are eligible for transportation to their designated school if they live beyond the walk zone.

It is important to note that Chief Justice Milvain School or Colonel J. Fred Scott School will become bus receivers with the expected implementation of new walk zones for the 2024-25 school year. As transportation aligns with the expected new legislation for the 2024-25 school year, if students choose to stay at their current schools as out-of-attendance area students, transportation services will not be provided.

New walk zone information will be communicated to families before the beginning of kindergarten registration in January 2024. Visit Busing & Transportation for more information or to register for transportation, visit MyCBE.
