Welcome back CJM families!

We were excited to welcome back students at Chief Justice Milvain School today. We hope that you had a wonderful spring break with family and friends. As we come back from holidays and students return to their studies, we eagerly anticipate school days filled with joyful learning, determination, and loads of learning.

Student Attendance

Regular attendance is crucial for a student's educational development. When students are absent from school, they miss out on valuable learning opportunities, class discussions, and the continuity of the curriculum. This can sometimes be challenging to make up, even with the most diligent effort.

If you find it necessary to take your child out of school for an extended period, we kindly ask that you notify the school office as soon as possible. The office staff will book a meeting or a phone call with the Principal to discuss the reasons for your child’s extended absence. It is important that parents are prepared to keep up with their child studies while absent from school for a long period of time.

We encourage you to consider the academic calendar and try to plan vacations during school breaks whenever possible. This will help ensure that your child remains engaged with their studies and continues to thrive academically.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We appreciate your commitment to your child's education and look forward to working together to support their learning journey.

Daily absences: If your child is away due to illness, family event, medical, etc. please leave a message on the attendance line. 403-777-6700 ext.1. If you are going on an extended absence, please email chiefjusticemilvainschool@cbe.ab.ca and inform us of your plans.

Healthy Hunger Fun Lunch

CJM’s School Council would like to remind parents about fun lunch! Please watch for upcoming fun lunch ordering dates. You an order through the www.healthyhunger.ca website. The next fun lunch will be on April 17 and ordering deadline will be April 13. We ask that if you do not order fun lunch for your child, please send a lunch in the morning with your child instead of dropping off lunches in the office. Dropping lunches off at the office on a daily basis adds extra work for our already very busy office staff and lunchroom supervisors. The lunch program is a fundraiser for our School Council. All funds raised will support school activities for your children.

Save the Date!

April 17, our K-2 students will be sharing their Spring Concert with families. There will be an evening performance as well as a dress rehearsal during the day that will be open to parents. Students in KindergartenGrade One and Grade Two will be expected to attend all performances. Please mark the date on the calendar. Times and details will be shared when we return from Spring Break.

McCarthy Uniform Message

The Spring Window opens on Wednesday March 12, 2025, and runs until Wednesday April 30, 2025.

Early/Late Student Pick-Up

School dismissal time is at 3:35pm (Mon-Thurs) and 12:35pm (Fri). Please try to avoid picking up your child in the last 30 minutes of the school day. This puts a lot of pressure on the office and classrooms to organize the end of the day. If you do require picking up your child early, please plan ahead and notify the teacher and office at the beginning of the day if you have an appointment coming up that requires an early pick up. We understand in emergent situations that sometimes you will need to pick up your child early.
